As a northern utility provider we operate a Private Corporate Network (PCN) which provides a transmission medium for data, PMR, operational telephony, SCADA systems and electricity network protection signalling throughout the licensed areas. We recently underwent a major project to remove the reliance on third party providers for our network protection circuits. Charlestown were employed as the main Small Works Contractor, providing the skills and resource to implement the following:
- 200+ Pre Installation Site Survey.
- 120+ Line of Sight Surveys.
- Installed, tested and commisioned 119 new radio links, both UHF and Microwave.
- Installed and commissioned Elteck DC equipment.
- Designed, procured and installed a bespoke communication tower solution.
- Installed interconnect solutions within substations.
- Carried out groundworks as and when required.
- Bespoke security fence installation.
All the work was supported by risk assessments and method statements, the handover documentation was comprehensive and informative. Charlestown played an integral part in the successful delivery of this major project.
